Located in Mall near slopes. Baked goods & espresso bar. Also serving soup, salad, sandwiches, and chili for lunch. The cookies are good!
PASTORE'S TASTE OF PHILLY - 923-5711 $
Serving pizza, a variety of breads, fresh salads, homemade soup and chili, tacos, burritos, spaghetti and homemade lasagna. Open for lunch and dinner.
SAGE at the SNOWMASS CLUB - 923-0923 $$$
239 Snowmass Club Circle. Excellent meal. Comments from registrants: "excellent food; club atmosphere; a hidden gem!" Features "High Alpine Cuisine", vegetarian dishes & homemade desserts. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
SAM'S SMOKEHOUSE $
New in 2009 at the top of Sam's Knob. Featuring Barbecue and other fare and an espresso bar.

at the SNOWMASS CENTER by Post Office & Market - Casual; serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner; mixed comments from locals.
STEW POT - 923-2263 $
On the Mall, homemade soups, stews, bread and sandwiches with salads. Casual lunch and dinner. Food: good, but not like it used to be with original owner
TAQERIA 85 $
Located by Snowmass Shuttle in a San Francisco Cable Car. Mexican fast food.
THE ARTISAN at the STONEBRIDGE INN - 923-2420 $$ $$$
Located in the Stonebridge Inn. Doc Eason performs magic in the lobby bar on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting from 6 to 10 PM. Continental style menu with fresh seafood specials nightly; excellent. We agree with the locals that say, "the best restaurant in Snowmass"

At the base of the Two Creeks lift. Have not tried it.
ULLRHOF - 923-5143 $
At the bottom of the Big Burn by the (#4) lift. Another “on the mountain” restaurant.
UP 4 PIZZA - 923-0464 $
At the top of the Big Burn (#4) lift. Excellent pizza if you like lots of cheese and toppings, served fast; salads, some sandwiches. Another “on the mountain” option.
VILLAGE STEAKHOUSE - 923-8289 $$ $$$
Upstairs in the Wildwood Lodge with panoramic views for lunch and dinner. Excellent soup and salad bar and the only one in Snowmass; Colorado beef headlines the menu. Recent reports are very good. They have early bird specials from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
ZANE’S TAVERN - 923-3515 $
Casual with bar games; hamburgers & bar appetizers; open 3 PM to 2 AM; located on the Mall upper level. A favorite with locals.
TASTERS - 923-5250 $
at the SNOWMASS CENTER by Post Office & Market - Pizza and casual Italian; locals argue that this is the best pizza in Snowmass, serving lunch, dinner; dine in or take-out/delivery.
BROTHER’S GRILLE - 925-8285 $ $$
Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also Apres-ski! Slopeside on the 5th floor of the Silvertree Hotel. An all-in-one restaurant with a broad range of food types; even some healthy choices on menu.
BUTCH'S LOBSTER BAR - 923-4004 or 923-7311 $ $$
Located in the Timberline Condominiums above the mall. Long established restaurant, a favorite with locals. Not fancy, but excellent for fresh lobster and seafood. Some negative comments about non-seafood dishes. Very busy, reservations recommended.
CAFE SUZANNE - 923-3103 $
On the mountain at the bottom of the Elk Camp lift. Very good food, cafeteria style;expensive for on the mountain!
OFFICE AT THE CIRQUE - 923-8686 $
Slopeside dining in what used to be the Timbermill. Features hearty American cuisine & bar appetizers and big screen TVs. Open 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Apres Ski begins at 2:30.
FUEL - 923-0091 $
End of the Snowmass Mall by the RFTA (to Aspen) Bus Stop and across from parking lot 6. Open from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM for breakfast, lunch and early dinner. A cozy cafe offering delicious food and beverages. The menu presents a variety of gourmet foods in a creative style. A fine espresso, tea, and smoothie bar includes an array of options. Highly recommended; limited seating; takeout. (We are biased - This is our daughter's cafe, but for a second opinion, ask a local!) 10% discount to all attending Aspen Anesthesia. GOODFELLOWS PIZZERIA - 923-2299 $
Snowmass Mall, open for lunch and dinner. Some locals say this is the best pizza in Snowmass; order by the slice or whole pie, calzones, subs, & salads.
GWYN’S HIGH ALPINE RESTAURANT - 923-5188 $ $$
Located on the mountain at the top of Alpine Springs lift. In two sections; Ski magazine voted the cafeteria side best at a ski resort, and we agree! The other section, Gwyn’s, has outstanding food, elegantly served with a view of the slopes. For Gwyn’s, make reservations in advance if possible. Serving breakfast and lunch; don’t miss it!
iL POGGIO - 923-4292 $$
Italian; a favorite for Italian food for many attendees and a favorite amongst locals as well. Two seating areas, the Ristorante & the more casual Cafe.
JUNK & LIQUID SKY - 970-922-5865
New in 2009 in Base Village. Fast Food and natural and organic fast-food venue with lounge/nightclub. Not impressed with the food and the night club was always closed.
KRABLOONIK - 970-923-3953 $$$ $$$$
Spectacular rustic atmosphere featuring European cuisine and wild game for lunch and dinner. Food: excellent; Short taxi ride. Also open for lunch at the bottom of Campground lift. Reservations required.
NARDI'S - 923-6803 $
The old Margarita Grill, new owner, still Mexican food. Open for lunch and dinner. Live Music!
MOUNTAIN DRAGON - 923-3576 $$
Pan Asian food. Takeout and delivery available. Food: very good, but you often have to suffer through long waits and occasional bad service. Reservations recommended.

There is no way to adequately sample the many great restaurants in Aspen. However, we will mention a few that we, our registrants, or locals consistently enjoy.

675 Durant Avenue Aspen, CO 81611-2001 Reopened this year at the base of Aspen Mountain. Open for lunch, for après ski and dinner until 10 p.m. Reservations taken only for dinner.
BOOGIE'S DINER - 925-6111 $-$$
534 East Cooper Avenue Downstairs is trendy?/expensive clothing in a 50's atmosphere; upstairs is "good food & funny staff."
Brunelleschi's Dome Pizza - 544-4644 $$
205 South Mill Street. Serving lunch and dinner; gourmet handmade pizzas, salads and pastas.
CACHE CACHE - 925-3835 $$$
205 S. Mill "The flavors of Provence" The place to go for a French meal. Excellent comments every year.
CAMPO de FIORI - 920-7717 $$-$$$
205 S. Mill Gourmet Italian cuisine. Outstanding salads and pasta; another favorite; and an Aspen "hot spot". reservations needed.
DISHASPEN - 925-7119 $$$ (a guess)
430 E Hyman Ave Aspen, CO 81611-2910 Highly recommended by locals; owner/chef formerly from the Ritz Carlton. Never visited. Reservations recommended;

307 S. Mill Homey Italian fare; "hottest place to dine"; we had an excellent meal in the summer.
Reservations recommended; new in 2006.

304 East Hopkins. Modern American cuisine; Recommended to us, not visited by the Smiths.
HOTEL JEROME - 920-1000 $$$ - $$$$
330 East Main Street. Worth a visit to see this beautifully restored, historic hotel. Wonderful atmosphere - excellent to outstanding food! Very expensive! Great magician, Eric Mead, in the Library- Monday evening 9 - 12 pm. (More than three stars for the magician!)
HICKORY HOUSE - 925-2313 $-$$
730 West Main Street. Winner of 43 barbeque contests; serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Very casual; good, cheap breakfasts. Less expensive to moderate.
JIMMY'S AMERICAN RESTAURANT & BAR - 925-6020 $$-$$$
205 South Mill. Very busy, lively atmosphere & great food. Featuring steaks and seafood. Salsa dancing Saturday nights at 10:30 PM. Highly recommended to us, not visited by the Smiths.
Johnny McGuire’s Deli - 920-9255 $

533 E. Hopkins in Aspen. "Best Japanese cuisine in Aspen"; very popular with sushi bar. Reservations recommended; fast-paced, not leisurely romantic dining. Not visited by the Smiths.
L'Hostaria - 925-9022 $$$
620 E. Hyman St. Contemporary Italian cuisine in a warm and elegant atmosphere. Reservations recommended.
LITTLE ANNIE'S EATING HOUSE - 925-1098 $
517 East Hyman Avenue. Wide range of food in a casual atmosphere; usually crammed with locals. Lunch and Dinner. "Good food & reasonable".
LULU WILSON - 920-1893 $$
316 East Hopkins. New "hot spot" last year, Modern American with a French & Spanish flare.
MONTAGNA RESTAURANT - 920-4600 $$$$
675 E. Durant in the LITTLE NELL’S HOTEL. Contemporary American Cuisine; Excellent to fabulous. Last year not quite up to previous, still most people concede it is the best food in Aspen, and that is saying something significant. "Sunday brunch is fantastic". Most extensive wine list in Aspen.
MATSUHISA - 544-6628 $$$$ (Our daughter gives )
303 E. Main. More upscale than the other Japanese restaurants in Aspen. A lot of former registrants recommend it very highly; Our daughter loves it; I was not impressed
PINONS - 920-2021 $$$$
105 South Mill Exceptional American cuisine with a Colorado touch. If Little Nell's or the Jerome isn't the best in town, Pinons is in the list! Always excellent reports; however, recent ones report worse service than in past; we find it too noisy and crowded.
POPPIES BISTRO CAFE 925-2333 $$$
834 West Hallam. May be the most romantic setting in Aspen!! "Superb; expensive, but worth it!" "It was wonderful!"
RUSTIQUE - 920-3300 $$$ (Our daughter gives )
216 South Monarch. Country French Bistro. Recommended to us, our daughter raves about it; not visited by the Smiths. Reservations suggested.
RUTH CHRIS STEAK HOUSE - 925-1167 $$$$
447 East Cooper Street. Not visited by the Smiths. Reservations suggested.
OLIVES at the St. REGIS HOTEL - 920-3300 $$$-$$$$
315 E. Dean St. Excellent Aspen version of the chain; certainly one of the very best.We thought last winter not up to previous years. Reservations suggested.
STEAK PIT - 925-3459 $$
719 East Cooper Avenue. "Excellent steaks and salad bar; good service; moderate prices." No reservatons.
SU CASA - 920-1488 $
315 E. Hyman Not our favorite; some like it. Busy; reservations suggested.
SYZYGY - 925-3700 $$$-$$$$
520 E. Hyman on the second floor. French fusion cuisine - I don't know what that is, but the meal was awesome. Extensive wine list; Reservations suggested.
TAKAH SUSHI - 925-8588 $$
320 South Mill. "Excellent Japanese food";"least expensive of the Japanese restaurants" not visited by the Smiths.
PINE CREEK COOKHOUSE - OUTSIDE OF ASPEN - 925-1044 $$$$+
11399 Castle Creek Road. Parking is 12 miles from the roundabout on highway 82, restaurant is located beyond the end of the road in winter. Lunch is less expensive than dinner. Ride a horse drawn sleigh (20 min), cross country ski (20 - 30 min) or walk (30-40min) to a unique dining experience. Beautiful views, wonderful experience. Excellent food, reservations required (call early for if you want the sleigh ride included).
DOWN VALLEY RESTAURANTS
Compared to a few years ago, more people live and more visitors stay down valley. The result is more choices in dining down valley as well. We will mention a few that we and our registrants consistently enjoy.
BELLA MIA - 963-2600 $-$$
Highway 82 in El Jebel right across from the movie theater. Very good pizza and Italian cuisine.
BLUE CREEK GRILL - 963-3946 $$
68 El Jebel Road. Innovative American and Provincial food. "Upvalley cuisine at downvalley prices"
RUSSETS - 963-3036 $$-$$$
225 Main Street in Carbondale. New with excellent reviews. Open every evening. Reservations recommended.
SIX 89 - 963-6890 $$$-$$$$
Located in Carbondale. An excellent restaurant with an outstanding reputation. One offer is a "taste of the menu", with lots of small samples; we love it!, open Tues-Sat.
ZHENG - 963-8077 $$ (Our daughter gives )
Located in El Jebel in the City Market Plaza. Highly recommended by locals. Pan Asian cuisine; arrive early or wait!
WOODY CREEK TAVERN 923-4585 $-$$
2858 Woody Creek Rd. Long standing local favorite. Great variety on the menu; we like the Mexican food, but lots to choose from. Must pay in cash!
